Dovestones Reservoirs

DOVESTONES RESERVOIRSSituated underneath Manchester CTA-3, Dovestones Reservoirs is a collection of 3 reservoirs orientated in a predominantly southwest to northeast orientation. This popular tourist spot may regularly be busy with walkers, cyclists and sailors. A boating club is located on the southern shore of the main reservoir.

Immediately to the north runs the A635 Holmfirth Road. This road connects the towns of Greenfield to the west and Holmfirth to the east.

To the east lies the sprawling moorland of Saddleworth Moor. This moorland separates Dovestones Reservoirs and the larger Woodhead Reservoirs. Be careful not to misidentify these two features.

To the west of are the towns of Greenfield and Tunstead.

To the south of is further moorland and the smaller Chew Reservoir which is situated at a much higher elevation than Dovestones Reservoirs.

HELPFUL HINT - Aim to pass to the east of Dovestones Reservoirs to give yourself a good buffer from the base of controlled airspace. Also, if monitoring Manchester Radar on 118.580 squawk the Frequency Monitoring Code 7366 to let them know you're listening.
